Icarus

As I flew too close to the sun,
My wings just seemed to fall.
As I wished I could go higher -
To that ever glowing light.
I started to crash to the sea...

On the wings of Icarus,
On those wax wings I flew free.
I forgot about the warning,
And fell into the sea.

I know now I shouldn't fly,
To where heaven lies clear.
If I should step past the boundary,
I'd crash right down to here.

When mortals fly to high,
All we'll know is fear.
It's been proved by the past -
By alchemy and tears..

A brothers' past,
An escape gone wrong
People's lives, tarnished by
That heat, the lost swan song.

So as I gaze into the sky,
And hope that I could have it all,
I realize now, that's foolish,
The ones who try, they fall.
