- An Other Story –
~ Chapter 12 ~
~
I had saved her.
I had gotten her away from me and this world.
But I hoped –
That the witch wouldn’t take that away.

~

Other Wybie woke up.

He was back inside the Other Mother’s workshop, along with being pinned and nailed down again.
This time it felt different though – like something was draining from him.

“Huh, what the-“ Other Wybie thought, he attempted to look himself over.

He saw that one of his legs were unstitched, and the sawdust inside was pouring onto the floor.
The Beldam was silently unstitching the other one.

“So, she’s going to kill me then by unstitching me… heh. Guess I really was a doll.” Other Wybie thought solemnly. He let his head rest upon the table he was trapped to. It made a soft ‘thunk’ noise.

“Hm… so you’re awake. I suppose you realize that you’re being unstitched? Mother doesn’t like being disobeyed by her children.” The beldam said in a sweet tone devoid of any real emotion.

“I already figured this would happen – I knew this the moment I tried to help Coraline.” Other Wybie gasped. He could talk again.

“So, she removed your ‘smile’ for you, tried to ease your pain? Hm?” the beldam said.

“Yes. I didn’t even realize I could talk until now.” Other Wybie replied.
“I could have told her why I couldn’t leave… I could have told her that – Oh well. She’s safe now… anyway. “ Other Wybie thought.

“Hm, how sad – the doll never got to tell his little girl how he felt. Never said a word of thanks.” The beldam said in a tone with a hint of mockery.

“She already helped me enough – she knew I was thankful.” Other Wybie said.

“Hm.” The beldam replied. She had finished unstitching his other leg.

Other Wybie remained silent. He was numb to all the pain now – the magic that had kept him alive – at least his body’s magic - was already fading away. His mind was as sharp as ever though.

The Other Mother started on unstitching his torso. Other Wybie was aware that his jacket, shirt, and pants were gone – but it didn’t matter.

“She tried to take you back – didn’t she?” the beldam said somewhat mockingly.

“So what if she did, I was already starting to crumble away. I couldn’t have gone – there’s already a Wybie in that world, the real Wybie. He’s Coraline’s friend – not me.” Other Wybie said. There was an almost undetectable trace of sadness in his voice.
“Even if I was the one who cared about her – and saved her life.” Other Wybie thought bitterly for a moment. He felt anger for a moment, but then realized that it was pointless – he was Wybie after all.

“Still, she almost stayed here because of you. Didn’t you see that look of pain on her face as you pushed her away?” the beldam replied.

“I knew that it would be better this way. She’s safe now – you can’t get your hands anywhere near her – she has the key.” Other Wybie said proudly – he couldn’t hide that emotion in his voice.

The Other Mother was almost finished unstitching his torso and was starting on his left arm.

“Hm, are you so sure of that? That you two have beaten me? You haven’t seen half of my power, doll. You've only made the game more challenging.” The beldam happily said in her spidery-tone.

Other Wybie flinched slightly.

“What do you mean? You can’t go into her world.” Other Wybie said, he tried to hide the fear in his voice.
“She can’t do anything – can she? No, I saved Coraline – I ‘died’ for her. The beldam can’t do anything else.” Other Wybie thought – he tried to reassure himself.

“Oh, but I can always sew more dolls, my little spies, my children. I can drop them into the ‘real’ world from my little workshop here – how do you think I trapped the ghost children? Even Coraline had a little doll – her friend, Wybie, you – he found it in his grandmother’s attic and thought it would be a nice gift for her. He doesn’t have any friends except that vermin in the ‘real’ world you know. He’s an outcast – I should have trapped him. It would have been easier – no annoying friends.” The beldam said sweetly. She was now completely finished unstitching Other Wybie’s torso.

“Coraline would have saved him. Or Cat. He’s stronger than you know. After all – how could he have gone all these years otherwise? He has friends – they just aren’t what’d you call them. What do you mean about more dolls?” Other Wybie asked. He suddenly felt ashamed though – he couldn’t believe that he himself had helped the beldam by giving Coraline the doll. Looks like both the Wybie’s were selfish when it came to gaining Coraline’s attention or friendship. He couldn't have known anyway.

“Oh, they can do more things than open the door – they can suck people in. Just like Coraline’s </i>real parents</i> – they’re trapped here now. She has to come back now.” The beldam said evilly.

“No. you can’t do that!” Other Wybie said. He couldn’t disguise the emotion in his voice any longer. He was seething with anger again. Sawdust poured out more forcefully onto the table – and he felt pain again.
“Guh!” his head fell backwards onto the table again.

“Oh, don’t worry – you’ll be dead and you’ll never see her face when she dies. Wybie will be alone again – and this time, you can’t do a thing. After all – your time is up.” The beldam said. She put down her needle.

Other Wybie realized that he couldn’t move at all anymore. He felt flat – in fact – he couldn’t even speak anymore – his mouth was only a line on the fabric. His button eyes were the only thing about him still ‘living’.
His button eyes blazed with fire though. The beldam had put them on the table – starting at his now deflated body of fabric.

“You’ll pay – Coraline will win!” Other Wybie’s button eyes thought. He wasn’t even aware how he was still even aware of the world. His body was gone.

“Hmph – looks like you were part of that boy’s soul. Oh well, Too bad I can’t re-use these buttons. Guess I’ll just toss them away. I guess I really can’t add things to my creations – only remove. Maybe that boy loves Coraline as well… hah. ” The beldam softly said.

And Other Wybie – the two black buttons – were dropped into the void.
He didn’t know what would happen to him now. After all – he had part of Wybie’s soul - that couldn't just dissappear, right?

He fell into blackness.
Alright - you couldn't just expect I'd kill him off - DID you? I have a whole story idea for what happens after this - and its related to how in the world Wybie snuck out of his house at like midnight and somehow magically knew that Coraline would be near the well just in time for him to save her from the Beldam's hand.
Aren't you the least bit curious how he just happened to go straight to that area?

Anyway -
Imagine the Other Mother's voice is like this during the whole scene -

(Note - If you have NOT seen the film, don't watch this video! Its a scene. EPIC scene.)
Imagine its the part where she says "You know I love you."
Creepy.

And OMG THERE'S A REASON I NEED THE CORALINE GAME -
[link]
Just watch this little cutscene from it... apparantly - some of the scenes from the movie aren't in it - but... there's new scenes as well. Just skip to 1:55. Its freaky.
Poor Other/Wybie. T_T The hand.. it.. maybe this is how Other Wybie knew that the otherworld was evil or something... I don't know. So confused - need game.
You know you can be Coraline with Wybie clothes in this game, right? =D Hooray!

I just reread the description.
"You know you can be Coraline with Wybie clothes in this game, right?"
