Well, actually Dēnglóng, its the Chinese term for lantern. (I hope that's right anyway. Lemme know if I'm wrong, please.)
Specifically used on this one for Chinese lantern.

Hence the eye-blinding. You ever watch Spirited Away? There's a clear reason why the animators used so much red in that film- the art book even mentions how intense the color is for paper lanterns. But man o man the intensity of the color does hurt my eyes a tad!

Was going to wait till tomorrow to draw any of these- but the conversation we had kuryaa was too interesting not to try something with! Plus the designs on lanterns (paper crinkles) provided nice opportunity to show that these light things (?) on their bodies can have different shapes. Belly may also have creases/lines. Tail is usually darker than the main body. Back fins may be slightly different depending on term focused upon (failed to make these look more like tassles and yet also scaling), and that the main horn/fin may appear different or have splits in it. Here, the term is so light focused, with the intense colors, this paralogos has an intense need for more concentrated display. (Versus on my Ginkgo one, doesn't particularly need lights.)

Lots of paper lanterns also have black characters written on them, but I didn't want to include sheer black in the piece. Main colors here are red, orange, yellow, and deep browns. (Since red light on black looks more brown.)

Anywho, I hope you like the design, and as mentioned, you're the only one who can use this concept. Every word is used once. (Course if someone does the term 'chinese lantern' in regards to the plant- that's a tad different.

If you choose to forfeit the design or trade it for any reason kuryaa, please let me know. I will be having a list of who owns what and what words are used. I would appreciate it since this was free, that you don't sell it straightout. Also, if you need this original piece of art for any reason, just ask. Claim me as the originator of the concept/design, and you're free to do whatever heck else you want with it! No other rules than that.
